Salzburg Super Ski Card: Discount Tickets for Skiing

The so-called "Salzburg Super Ski Card" is a discount ticket that covers 23 skiing regions in Salzburg and a total of 2.200 kilometres of managed slopes. Note that the ticket is meant to be particularly attractive for people who live in Austria: It is valid for the entire skiing season, which usually ranges from early November until early May. These seasonal tickets cost approximately 500 to 600 Euros; they are supplemented with the same type of ticket that is valid on 10 days of your choice during the specified season.

This type of ticket costs approximately 350 to 400 Euros - which is still some 20 percent cheaper than buying individual tickets on 10 days. For tourists, however, package skiing tickets for the duration of your stay (for example two weeks) will (or at least should) be a great deal cheaper. Note that despite of the hefty price, the Super Ski Card is considered to be a discount ticket - therefore, no further discounts are available. Only children get a special rate, but no seniors, students or other "discountable" groups will.

The skiing regions that are covered by the Salzburg Super Ski Card are the following: All regions of the Ski Amade (Salzburger Sportwelt, Gasteinertal, Großarltal, Schladming/Dachstein, etc.), Zell am See/Kaprun, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang, the Zillertalarena, the Weißsee Gletscherwelt/Uttendorf, the Nagelköpfel/Piesendorf, Rauris, Lofer, Steinplatte/Waidring, Reit im Winkel, Unken-Heutal, the Mölltal/Mallnitz area, Lungau, Werfenweng, Dachstein West, Abtenau, Postalm, Skischaukel Gaißau-Hintersee, Dürrnberg/Zinkenkogel, and the Untersbergbahn cable car. In case you have not read our articles on Salzburg′s skiing areas: That is a lot. Pretty much every ski lift in the province of Salzburg, but also several skiing regions in Tyrol, Styria and Carinthia.

You can purchase a Salzburg Super Ski Card at the counters of all the skiing regions given above. Note, however, that you will be required to bring a portrait photograph. Another important piece of information: Buying a Super Ski Card in advance prior to early December is about 10 percent cheaper than buying it during the main season after early December.

The Salzburg Super Ski Card is applied via a fancy electronic chip for which you will have to pay a small deposit; it allows you to pass lift barriers without touching anything. For more detailed information, we would recommend you to talk to the managerial staff at your hotel: They will know if the Salzburg Super Ski Card will make sense for you or if there is a more economic package available in the area where you are staying. There might also be seasonal offers.
